Dhūri As many of you know we maintain the exhibits in the glass showcases at the Depot Inn here in LaPlata. We at least update them once a year to keep them interesting. Earlier this year that project found its way to the top after some work travel. Robert, Greg, Amy and I loaded up the new items for display and headed over to the hotel to start the project. It was a long afternoon but well worth it once it was done. Some case got completely redone and some just got some extra details. They all got cleaned and the glass did too. We hope you enjoy all that is on display at the hotel. If you would like to donate anything to the displays please reach out to the APRHF info@aprhf.org and we will be glad to work with you and make sure proper credit is given.

Greg is getting out the final piece to put in the display to the right which now features some prewar tinplate, Santa Fe Lionel engines and some homemade standard gauge cars made by Jack Ollison here in LaPlata. A finished view is below.

The above display features an assortment of lanterns and some Doc Savage history. He was a pulp fiction character created by Lester Dent a local author that now has a bridge named after him that crosses the BNSF railway tracks.

Santa Fe and Early Amtrak uniforms that were used by Virgil Lindbergh during his career with the Santa Fe and Amtrak. He used to be a local citizen of LaPlata that was loved by many.

This display features some BNSF Safety plates, schedules, hats, books and even a messenger bag.

Vintage toy trains of all sizes, kids books and some pullman gear in this case. This is fun for kids of all ages.

Timetables with some nice artwork on the covers. Local LaPlata photos from back in the day etc. Another Santa Fe conductor jacket, hat and bag.
Please take some time on you next visit to walk the halls. It is lot’s of fun. You never know what you will see.
